Ruby Lily Ready for Lift-Off
An unforgettable road trip east to Essex to witness the beginning of a new career.
The Vibes got started last Easter, 2025. By fluke and happenstance, Easter 2026 has been a big deal. And the period draws to a close this weekend with a debut single from Ruby Lily followed today by a memorable launch event over at Battlesbridge Antiques Centre, Essex.
We followed the line of denim and trucker caps to a breezy corner outside the enormous antiques centre. At the front, a guitar and amplifier stood ready for action. I spotted Ruby at some distance on account of the enormous shades and trademark trucker cap.
Ruby Lily played a short acoustic set that ended with her debut single, Loving Me or Killing Me, and we rounded the afternoon off by designing our own caps. Mine is in the montage below. She kicked off with her friend Willow Avalon's Yodelayheewho (of course) and another highlight was '90s megahit What's Up? by 4 Non Blondes. The audience were initially reluctant to give full-throated contributions but this was swiftly corrected.
